Calvin and Hobbes - Human Nature

I love Calvin and Hobbes!  Not only are the cartoon strips entertaining but many of them also offer insights about society, philosophy, and the human condition in general.  I find them to be an invaluable resource in a Social Studies classroom because they are initially engaging to the students, and also fairly easy in terms of analysis.  Also, they usually make a great launching point for deeper class discussions.

The following cartoon strip deals with human nature and is a personal favorite of mine.  I use this one when teaching the Enlightenment or Enlightenment Thinkers like Thomas Hobbes or John Locke.  It goes great with my Teachers Pay Teachers unit on the Enlightenment.  Check it out: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Brodie-Millar

I suggest you try to buy a few collections of the Calvin and Hobbes series to get a decent collection for your classroom!
